After being blown ashore in September of 2010 we looked at our ground tackle and decided to get a new anchor. We looked around at various models, had thought of making our own and decided to order the best one we could find through Kingston Anchors.

While we toyed with the idea of putting in an engine ultimately we decided that an engine may have saved us from going ashore but better anchoring would have prevented it. Our ground tackle arsenal now consists of:
1 - 75 lb fisherman anchor
1 - 35 lb fisherman anchor
2 - 44 lb bruce anchors
1 - 22 lb bruce anchor
1 - 44 lb danforth anchor
Combining this with around 400 feet of 3/8 inch chain and at least that much 5/8" nylon rode will hopefully keep us secure next time we experience a big blow.
You can't have too many anchors!
